How much peat moss fits in a container or a full truck?

Оваа статија е на англиски јазик.

Peat moss container loading starts with a simple question: which pack are you shipping? A count of big bales is not interchangeable with a count of pallets, and bag size alone does not tell you how many bags will fit.

SOLVIKA publishes approximate loading figures for a 40 ft high-cube container and plans each full truck for the order. Use the figures to plan an enquiry, then confirm the load for your product, packaging and destination before placing an order.

What fits in a 40 ft high-cube container?

For a 40 ft high-cube container, the figures are up to 24 big bales of 5500 L or 6000 L, up to 30 pallets of 250 L bags, up to 44 pallets of 70 L bags, or up to 30 pallets of 50 L bags. These are alternative loading formats, not quantities to add together. The full breakdown by packaging format is on the logistics page.

Keep the unit attached to each figure when comparing options. A big bale travels on its own pallet, while the bagged figures count pallets of bags. The bags on a pallet differ between a container and a truck, for example 33 bags of 70 L in a container and 42 in a truck, so confirm the count for yours before converting pallets into bags.

The ranges are useful for an initial shipping plan, but the exact load still needs checking against the selected pack. Tell the supplier whether you want big bales or 50 L, 70 L or 250 L bags rather than asking for a container of peat in general.

How does full-truck loading compare?

A full truck takes up to 26 big bales, up to 32 pallets of 250 L bags or up to 30 pallets of 70 L bags. The pallet count is confirmed before loading. Ask for a loading plan if you need delivery by road.

Do not assume that the same pack will produce the same pallet count in a container and a truck. Treat the container figures as a planning guide, then have the proposed load confirmed for the order.

SOLVIKA's container shipments load through ports in Lithuania or Latvia. European road deliveries go by full truck load direct from the production sites. That distinction matters when you give a destination: a port of discharge is needed for a sea shipment, while a road delivery needs the full delivery address.

Choose the pack before comparing freight

Start with how the peat will be used or sold. A substrate manufacturer receiving material for blending may assess a big bale differently from a distributor supplying bagged stock. The useful comparison is the delivered quantity in a pack your operation can receive, handle and use.

  • Big bales. A container takes up to 24 bales of 5500 L or 6000 L. Specify the peat type and screening as well as the bale format.
  • 250 L bags. These appear across SOLVIKA's peat moss and substrate ranges, with 15 to 18 bags on a pallet depending on the product. A container takes up to 30 pallets.
  • 70 L bags. Lithuanian peat and many substrates come in this size. A container takes up to 44 pallets of 33 bags.
  • 50 L bags. This size is available for selected substrates. A container takes up to 30 pallets of 63 bags. Request the loading details for the mix you intend to order.

Packaging availability varies by product. A peat grade, a ready-to-use mix and a retail pack should not be treated as if they share the same set of bag sizes. Confirm the product and its packaging together before comparing transport options.

Why can freight decide the delivered cost?

Peat is bulky and light, so freight often decides the delivered cost more than the product does. A useful comparison therefore needs more than a bag size and a destination country. It needs the volume, packaging, destination and delivery term for each option being considered.

For example, a request for 250 L bags and a request for big bales lead to different loading calculations. Even when the peat specification is the same, the number of pallets or bales in the proposed load affects how the shipment is planned. Ask for a delivered comparison in the packaging you can actually receive.

State the delivery term rather than leaving it open to interpretation. Containers ship FCA, FOB, CFR or CIF from Klaipeda or Riga. Trucks go EXW or DAP, and DAP is only for delivery within the EU. For a sea shipment, give the destination country and port of discharge. For road delivery, give the full delivery address.

If you are comparing import arrangements, check the applicable customs and documentation requirements with your customs broker or the relevant authority. Those requirements can depend on the destination and should be confirmed for the particular shipment.

What should you send for a confirmed loading plan?

A short, complete enquiry is easier to assess than a request for the maximum that fits. Start with the crop or intended use if you have not selected a product. If you already buy to a specification, send that specification or your current datasheet.

  • Product. Give the peat type or substrate specification, including screening where relevant. State whether you need unlimed peat, a pH-adjusted base or a ready-to-use mix.
  • Packaging. Choose big bales or the required bag size. If more than one pack works for you, say so and ask for a loading comparison.
  • Shipment. Say whether you need a 40 ft high-cube container or a full truck, and give the intended order volume.
  • Destination. Provide the port of discharge or full delivery address, together with your preferred delivery term.

Order planning also depends on product quantity and timing. The minimum order is one full load, a 40 ft high-cube container or a full truck. Up to 3 products can share that load, and each starts at 10 pallets of 50 L or 70 L bags, 8 pallets of 250 L bags or 6 pallets of big bales. Preparation typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, and 4 to 5 weeks in spring and autumn, depending also on order size and product.

Frequently asked questions

How many pallets of 250 L peat bags fit in a 40 ft high-cube container?

Up to 30 pallets, with 18 bags on each. A truck pallet holds 15 or 18. SOLVIKA confirms the load for the exact product and pack when you enquire.

How many pallets of 50 L or 70 L bags fit in a container or a truck?

A 40 ft high-cube container takes up to 30 pallets of 50 L bags or 44 pallets of 70 L bags, and a full truck up to 32 pallets of 50 L bags or 30 of 70 L bags. Ask for a loading plan for the particular product and packaging.

Can I order less than a full container or truck?

No. The minimum order is one full load, a 40 ft high-cube container or a full truck. Up to 3 products can share that load, and each starts at 10 pallets of 50 L or 70 L bags, 8 pallets of 250 L bags or 6 pallets of big bales. Ask about the specific product you need.

What information is needed to compare delivered options?

Send the volume, packaging, destination and preferred delivery term, along with the product specification. For sea freight, include the port of discharge. For road delivery, include the full delivery address.

Send your product specification, preferred pack, volume, destination and delivery term through the contact form. SOLVIKA can then confirm the appropriate loading plan and provide a delivered quotation.
